Revitalize CDC’s #JoinedForces Initiative Collaborates with the Blue Crew on Annual Service Day for the 6th Year!

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Revitalize CDC’s #JoinedForces Initiative focuses on military veterans and their families in need. Mr. Davis is a widower and a Vietnam War Veteran who served 8 years in the USAF, rank: E-4. His commander wanted him to serve another term however his wife was getting ready to give birth to their daughter. He made the decision to resign. After his military service he worked 28 years at Monsanto Company and his home on Maynard Street was purchased by his parents in 1961.

Mr. Davis lost his wife 15 years ago to cancer. Every year he and his family get together and pay a special recognition to his wife and the money they collect donate to the American Cancer Society. After paying for her medical expenses and due to his age, he has not been able to keep up with the work that is needed on his home. It is OUR time to serve him! The Blue Crew on Service Day – Friday, September 21, 2018 will bring 50 volunteers from throughout the state to repair crumbling concrete steps and replace the front porch flooring where both are a fall hazard. They will install a new energy-efficient storm door, paint
the exterior of the home as well as a yard cleanup and landscaping. A flagpole will be installed so that later in the day the flag can be presented to Mr. Davis raised with an Honor Guard. Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA employee Beth Gooch, will sing the National Anthem.
