On November 28, 2011, Governor Patrick announced the launch of the Massachusetts Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative (AMC) – a group comprised of leaders from industry, academia and government that has come together to enhance the competitiveness of Massachusetts manufacturing and lead the national effort to revitalize this country as a place that makes things. The AMC is working to execute a five-point agenda that reflects a year-long dialogue with the state’s business and academic leaders through Governor Patrick’s Advanced Manufacturing Initiative steering committee, originally convened in May 2010. The agenda reflects the steering committee’s thoughts on promoting manufacturing, workforce development, technical assistance and innovation, the cost of doing business, and access to capital.
The work of the AMC aligns Massachusetts with President Obama’s Advanced Manufacturing Partnership and seven other states through the National Governors Association Center of Best Practices Policy Academy on Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation.

The Greater Holyoke Chamber of Commerce hosted a press conference on October 20th at the Holyoke Boys and Girls Club to view the premiere of a newly created video about Holyoke’s Manufacturers and Innovators that was produced by local youth in partnership with the Holyoke Boys and Girls Club and the Holyoke High School’s Media Program. The Chamber engaged both the High School and the Boys and Girls Club students to promote the great products and services Holyoke manufacturers have to offer and to learn more about what is actually made in Holyoke. The students interviewed, filmed, edited and produced the 3 minute videos presented. Mayor Alex Morse and Holyoke Public Schools’ Superintendent Sergio Paez supported the partnership and helped unveil the videos about Holyoke Machine and Universal Plastics.
